While anyone can get trich, certain factors increase your risk of getting the disease: having multiple partners, a history of STIs, and having trich before. Until you get a trichomoniasis test, you’ll only be guessing as to whether you have it.

Signs you Need a Trichomoniasis Test

Trich is most likely to affect women. Also, African-American women are more likely to have the disease than their white or Hispanic counterparts.

The majority of men and women who have the disease don’t show any symptoms.

What Happens if I Have Trichomoniasis?

If you have trich, consult with your doctor to get the proper antibiotics. Doctors typically recommend metronidazole or tinidazole.

In addition to protecting yourself, you should also protect those around you. Let your sexual partner(s) know about your diagnosis. Suggest your partner take a trichomoniasis test. Many times a man can have the infection and not show symptoms, giving it back to his partner even after she’s been treated.
